Coronavirus Useful Information Links

When we come across an outbreak such as the Coronavirus, there are numerous websites that provide credible, reliable and current information.

Organisations such as the Department of Health & Social Care (in the UK), Gov.uk (UK), European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC - Europe), The Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (USA) and most notably The World Health Organisation (Global) provide the most reliable and up to date Public Health information you can rely on.

PUBLIC HEALTH INFORMATION ON CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19):

1. The gov.uk & NHS.uk websites

Coronavirus (COVID-19): what you need to do:

https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus

This is your first stop. There are several sections listed on the main page that can direct you to the information you need, from how to protect yourself, to schools, to employment and more.

https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/

This is the official NHS page on Coronavirus with pertinent information and corresponding links.

2. Department of Health & Social Care (UK):

https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/department-of-health-and-social-care

Where their main page features the Coronavirus, with almost daily updates.

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/wuhan-novel-coronavirus-information-for-the-public

You can always go to the gov.uk main page, and type coronavirus in the main search bar where they will have most up to date general information.

They also have guidelines for GP surgeries

UK Action Plan:

You can find the full action plan here:

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-action-plan

3. The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control:

https://www.ecdc.europa.eu/en/coronavirus

Their main feature is currently the Coronavirus.

What is unique about the ECDC, is that they have an App called ECDC Threat Reports that generates a daily report on the Coronavirus which you can get on iOS or Android.

4. The Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, In the US:

https://www.cdc.gov

And they also feature the Coronavirus on the main page.

They also have a Travel Location checker where you enter the city you wish to travel to, and it provides you with updated information on local virus alerts.

5. The World Health Organisation, one of the best within these circumstances:

https://www.who.int

Where one of their main feature is the Coronavirus. By following the link, you end up on daily “situation reports”, including this:

https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019/situation-reports/

And they feature a section on travel advice as well:

https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019/travel-advice

General Health Websites on Coronavirus:

Now in terms of general information websites, two of my current favourites with information on Coronavirus are:

1. Patient

https://patient.info

And they have an updated information section here:

https://patient.info/news-and-features/covid-19-coronavirus-myths-debunked

2. NHS.UK

https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/wuhan-novel-coronavirus/

Covering "Common Questions" and "Travel Information".

Social Media Dos and Don'ts

In this time of fear, uncertainty and anxiety, we are being asked to isolate ourselves from those in our lives. We are fortunate to have the gift of connecting to one another through social media. However, it is important that we look after our mental health as much as our physical health, so here are some tips to maintaining this healthy mental balance as we live through this pandemic.
